They got together over the Independence Holiday weekend at Bird's Isle in Belize City, and talked about old times and bringing the old timers back to the courts to help with putting the fundamentals back into the game. If you look real closely you can see an import, from Panama & The Dallas Mavericks. Mr. Rolando Blackman was here in the country to celebrate our independence day, Sept. 21st and to offer his expertise to The Belize Basketball Federation. The Belize Film Commission was to capture the days event and will be involved in documenting these meeting and securing film footage for the archives.

New York City: On the eve of the 9/11 weekend 2011 the 10th year anniversary was the topic of the day. We traveled to New York to close a deal with a New York City Production Company to film a series of Live Stream shows that will promote original Belizean content. The deal was done and we now have the outlet that will allow Belizean stories to be seen by Belizeans outside of the country our stories and images of Belize can be streamed to any smart phone or computer in real time. Just imagine if we want to see the elections from Belize live and in real time from anywhere in the world we can do it.  Look out world, you'll be seeing a lot more about our beautiful little country by way of a deal that was done through the great city of New York, New York.

Minister Herredia was the perfect host for our comedy VIP's, Mr. Faizon Love, Tony Roberts and the Breakthrough Star crew. Min. Herredia celebrated the 2nd year of San Pedro hosting an event at the beautiful Karma Lounge. The setting was amazing as the moonlight night gave us an incredible ambiance for a night with the international dignitaries partied on Ambergris Caye. San Pedro really represented us well to the international film community as the Karma Lounge spared no expense when it came to decorating the beach front for the screening. The Hollywood Stars that attended were really impressed with what the island had to offer and how friendly everyone was on Ambergris Caye. I want to thank Breakthrough Stars for bringing the celebrities, NICH, Horacio Guerrera for putting on a wonderful event and Karma Lounge for hosting such a classy outing. SEPTEMBER CELEBRATIONS CALENDAR OFFICIALLY PRESENTED 1 September 2011 No Comment Belize will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its Independence this month and the National Celebrations Commission along with other partners are planning on celebrating the occasion with added flare. Activities began today with the launch of the 2011 September Celebrations calendar of events. Co-Chair of the National Celebrations Commission, Diane Haylock highlights some of the main activities planned for this year. Diane Haylock – Co-chair National Celebrations Commission “We felt that we needed to do more than simply just have the parties and the celebratory kind of events and also infuse in it some discourse, some reflections on what these 30 years of Independence have meant to us as a people and as a nation. We also realize that everything could not be done in the month of September so we started the celebrations early by having this launch today and between now and December there is at least one activity happening each month. One of the activities we are hoping that we will be able to realize is the hosting of a forum of our four Prime Ministers. The requests have been made but we don’t have confirmation as yet about their participation. They have their own reflections and views about what these 30 years have meant so it is an opportunity for them to share their own thoughts and ideas about it and do some projections about what they would like to see happen in the next 30 years if you will. We are going to be doing a lot of the usual things and making these things bigger and better so for instance like with carnival, we’ve increased the prizes for carnival in a big way. With carnival we are looking at getting bands to participate not just from Belize City. A new thing we are doing this year is the Belize sculpture symposium and the Belize sculpture symposium will take place November 12 to December 10 and basically what it means is that we will have six to eight sculptors who will basically be making huge public art size sculptures and these will be placed in different locations in the country.” For the third year Independence Day will be celebrated in the capital, Belmopan where a song composed by Frankie Reneau titled “The Hymn for Belize”. Happy Father's Day To All The Fathers & Father Figures Out There.

A Father's Day wish! Yesterday I watch my daughter graduate from Elementary/Primary School, today my wife and I took her to orientation for High School, Wow! I watched her and her mother sit through hours of speeches from future teachers and current students at Saint Catherine's Academy in Belize City, tell the people in audience about what to expect in the upcoming school year. The funny thing about all this is that I actually saw my daughter get older as we were sitting there, I listened to the talk from the Vice Principal and how she said that mommy and daddy are no longer responsible for your homework getting done, mommy and daddy are no longer responsible for getting you to school on time, I said my gosh my little girl is becoming a young lady. Fathers I put this request out to you today that at least once a week you do something with your little girl and if you have a little boy spend as much time as possible with him before they become to old and they don't want you around unless it's to put gas in the car or give them some money to go out with their friends. As a man I enjoy working hard and trying to provide for my family, but I am also seeing that it's important to have time for them and to be there for the things that they say are important to them. Father's Day is important day and I'm glad that world set aside a special day for all the fathers, I want to salute my fellow fathers and parents, for doing this tough job that we call parenting, it's definitely something that should be with a partner. I lost my father about 10 years ago and it still seems like only yesterday, I still remember the last time I saw him leave the house when the ambulance came for him early that morning and at the hospital later that day, it was Oct. 30 2002 I was back in California for my parents anniversary and mother's birthday and a few days after we celebrated those 2 events my father left us and all I had were the memories. I was very fortunate because my father always made the time for me and my mother regardless of how tough his workday was he always found time for me. My dad seemed always to be there, no matter what, and in my time of failure as a father I, use that as a barometer to put me back on track. Today was a special day because being at orientation with my daughter, it reminded me of what my father would have done, he was there with us in spirit and I thank God for that. Happy Father's Day

Rodney Perry & friends are set to open the Belize International Film Festival with a comedy night extravaganza. On Thursday July 14th 2011 at The Bliss Performing Arts Center, Belize City will be the comedy center of the Caribbean. 4 talented comedians led by BET's own Mr. Rodney Perry, of The Monique Show will be in Belize City for 1 night doing 2 shows 7pm & 9pm at The Bliss. The Comedy Show is part of NICH and The Belize Film Festival commitment to bring first rate entertainment to Belizeans. The comedy show is being produced by Breakthrough Stars & Triumphant Pictures which will air the show on US TV at a later date. Breakthrough Star has made a commitment to promote local Belizean talent through a series of contest which will start with a local Belizean Comedian getting their shot at being on stage with Mr. Perry to perform a set of jokes. The Belize Film Festival Is Back

Guess who's coming to Belize on July 14th 2011 to open the 6th Annual Belize Film Festival? It's a special night for Belize, it's the return of Gary Owen and he's bringing a few of his close friends. Rodney Perry from The Monique Show, Damon Williams and my personal favorite Mr. Tony Roberts, Belize we are in for a treat.
